The hamlet is situated a 30 minutes drive north of the medieval town of Carcassonne, with its quaint narrow cobbled streets, open air market and magnificent walled citadel. Carcassonne has two UNESCO world heritage sites, La Cite and the Canal du Midi. They are both must see tourist attractions. The Montagne Noire lies above the fabulous AOC wine growing regions of the Minervois, Corbieres and Cabardes. Perhaps try the degustation (tasting) from some of the local vineyards. This is the most prolific wine-growing region of France. You might take a few bottles back, sit on the terrace and look out across the wooded valley and watch the honey buzzards hunt their prey while you sip your wine.
